Tier 1 News

Welcome to the 2021-2022 WWVL volleyball season!

Kendra Lang will be your tier convenor

Your schedule is available on the WWVL website (www.wwvl.ca).

Tier 1 plays Wednesday nights at Dakota Community Center.

Please make sure to complete your teams’ registration (a roster of a minimum of 8 players and payment) by
the deadline: October 10, 2021. Teams not fully registered by the deadline will forfeit their first match and
receive a fine.   All players must be registered with the WWVL prior to participating in a match.

All players must also sign your team’s waiver before participating in a match.   We have implemented an online waiver
for your convenience. Please find a link to the waiver here: https://www.wwvl.ca/waiver.php (e on
the WWVL website) for additional details.

General:  Due to the current health guidelines, the HOME TEAM will be responsible for setting up
and taking down the net.  Each team must bring scorecards to every match or they will be fined.
Matches are best of five sets; all sets are rally point and must be won by two points.  The first four
sets are to 25 points and the fifth set is to 15 points.

QR Codes/Vaccination Cards: Please bring your QR Codes/Vaccination Cards & a government issued
Photo ID to EVERY match as each facility requires those who enter to be fully vaccinated. Be
prepared to have it scanned & verified every week. A military immunization card will be accepted by
the facilities.

A guideline is being added which will indicate the following, please ensure that yourself and your
team are aware of the items on the guideline:
o As per current Provincial mandates and facility requirements, all players need to be fully
vaccinated. If an infraction happens with an unvaccinated individual at a facility, the team
committing the infraction will be immediately expelled from the league for the 2021-2022
season and if there are any resulting fines imposed to the league, the team who committed
the infraction is responsible for paying the fine.

Mask Mandate: Please ensure you are wearing a mask as you enter the facility. Masks MUST be
worn at all times, unless you are actively participating (i.e. warm-up or playing the game). If you are
on the bench, masks must be worn.

No Spectators: Our facilities have recommended that only those listed on rosters are to enter the
facility.

Facility time frames: Due to Covid, our facilities are asking for our teams to be ready to play, and to
leave facilities in a timely manner. If possible, please arrive no more than20 minutes before your
match and please attempt to leave within 20 minutes of your match completing.

Home Team:  The home team is responsible for bringing the game ball and a scoresheet to the
match. We do not have an official league ball. As long as the ball is a standard indoor volleyball and
in game ready condition, the refs should accept it.

Uniforms:  The uniform deadline is November 15.  Any player not in uniform after the deadline will
be fined.

Scoresheets:  Scoresheets can be found on the Downloads section of the WWVL website.  Please
submit your completed scoresheets to me within 48 hours of the match date by e-mail (photo or
scan of both sides of your scoresheet).

Substitutions: Substitutions from a lower or SAME WWVL tier are allowed if you are concerned
about fielding 6 players for an entire match.  Teams may only use one substitute per match and the
sub must be noted on the scoresheet.

Ghost Player Rule: In case of injury, the match may continue on with less than 6 players (injured
players may not return for the remainder of the match) or a Libero can make a permanent
substitution. The match cannot start with less than 6 uninjured players. When there are less than 6
players, any vacant position(s) will be filled by a GHOST player. Serve will be forfeited when a ghost
player rotates into position 1, and the number of front row/back row players will be affected by the
positioning of the ghost player(s). This rule can be found in the Guidelines under Section F – Match
Procedures (F 1 Format)

Please ensure your team leaves a clean facility (gym, change room, etc) at the end of each match

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.

Good luck and have a great season!
